BBC Announces New Lead For Doctor Who

Ncuti Gatwa, known for his role in the popular Netflix series "Sex Education", will take over the role of the Doctor in the upcoming series of Doctor Who.

The announcement was made on May 4, 2023, and Gatwa will become the 14th actor to play the role of the Doctor in the show's long-running history.

Gatwa will replace Jodie Whittaker, who has played the Doctor since 2017. Whittaker will leave the show at the end of the current series, which is set to air in the autumn of 2023.

Gatwa is a British actor of Rwandan descent. He is best known for his role as Eric Effiong in the Netflix series "Sex Education". He has also appeared in films such as "Been So Long" and "Moffie".

Gatwa said that he is "honoured and excited" to be playing the role of the Doctor.

"It is a role that I have always dreamed of playing, and I cannot wait to get started," he said.

The new series of Doctor Who is set to air in late 2023 or early 2024.
